Negative HPT with symptoms
Posted: 04-01-08 20:39pm

All signs seem to be pointing to "I'm pregnant", but the HPTs have all come back negative. Is it possible that I am pregnant, but my HCN hormone levels are simply too low to be detected by HPTs?

Here's my chronology of events:
* My peak fertility day was March 13th and I had unprotected sex on the days before, during and after the 13th.

* I should have gotten my period on the 21st, but instead I had what I think was implantation bleeding on the 24th. It was very light, pinkish in color and lasted about 2 1/2 days.

* I have lower back tightness and my nipples are sore. I don't have nausea, but I feel queasy and a bit lightheaded at times.

* My period is now 12 days late and I am normally very regular.

* I have taken 3 ClearBlue Easy tests and 2 First Response Early Pregnancy tests... all AFTER my missed period. Five tests and 5 negative results.

Have you had a similar situation and you were actually pregnant? As a precaution, I have cut out caffeine, alcohol and sushi... and wake up every morning hoping that a plus sign or double line will appear, but it's either a minus sign or a single line.

i did not get a positive pregnancy test until i was 5.5 weeks along. talk about crazy!!! if you are anxious which it sounds like you are.....i personnally would call your doctor and ask for a sonogram. he/she will probably suggest a blood hcg test first but if that comes back negative still request a sonogram. this may sound bad but sometimes when the egg implants it for some reason stop growing which means the hcg will stop increasing. your body may get confused and not know what to do. the sonogram is the only true way to know. there is ALWAYS a chance of error in blood and urine tests. it may be a small chance but none the less it is still there. hope this helps

A lot of women seem to have this problem of the HCG levels not being enough to read on a test, so you could be pregnant. You've gone the right things by cutting out anything that could be potentially harmful in a pregnancy. DMM has some good advice up there. You should probably see a doctor to determine what's going on.

Other than that, you could just have a bad case of stress and PMS, which can also masquerade as a pregnancy. In either case, do relax and try to rest until you can see a doctor. Good luck.

You already know the answers because you have asked all this before and everyone has told you repeatedly that your current boyfriend is the father, and I have answered all your PM's..... Stop asking and stop worrying.

I think you are too early on to get a positive result. I did not test positive until about 5 weeks either. So wait maybe 30 days from your expected period. But definately try to stop worrying. You can cut out all the bad things during your pregnancy but stress can be one of the most harmful things
