Q: no idea of due date

Ok, here's my story, about a year and half ago, my OB told me that I had a condition that made the lining of my uterus too thick and that is why I did not have regular cycles, it would build and build instead of releasing each month. He said it would make it difficult to get pregnant but not impossible. We had only been married a few months, so we weren't quite ready yet anyway so decided not to do any further tests and cross that bridge when we came to it. About a year later, we decided to start trying, that's when we found out that I also wasn't ovulating. Since I wastn't ovulating, the Dr said it would be impossible to get pregnant. He prescribed me clomid, but I was never able to take it because I never had a cycle. July 11th of this year (about 13 months of not using birthcontrol) I took an HPT and it was positive. I had blood tests that same day and they confirmed the pregnancy. Since I hadn't had a period in over 9 months we had no idea other than guesses. Based on the HCG level, they said I was about 7 weeks. My HCG levels were around 37,000. I had an ultrasound 4 days later and they said I was 19 weeks based on measurements. Ok now to this past week. I started having contractions, I am supposedly now 24 weeks. I went in to the OB and they put me on a uterine and baby monitor which they said they can usually only hear a heartbeat at over 32 weeks on. I had this montioring 2 days in a row, and both times they were able to get my baby's hearbeat very quickly.

Based on all of this info, I think they are off on my due date. I think I am at least 4 weeks farther along then they think, with possibly a small baby.

HELP!!!!!!! what does everyone think????

Okay you have endometriosis, that is where you uterine lining continues to grow and not shed. It has been 9 months since you have had a menstrual cycle. The HcG levels that you displayed are actaully normal for any pregnancy above 21 days. Those levels are the norm in your blood until you deliver. (Normal HgC for 25 weeks to term is 3,640-117,000)
I cannot send the link from where I got this info because it was reported as advertising earlier...its not an ad link so ? But I will pm it to you if you want.
The monitor that they are using on you is probably a toco monitor...there are two straps and two "probes".One measures your contractions, the other measures the heartrate of the fetus. I can tell you from experience that that monitor can pick up the heartbeat of a 21 week fetus because I went into early labor with two of my children. I think that they need to do another ultrasound to do the measurments on your baby (femur measurments give an approx. gestational age /- 2weeks). I cannot say how far along you are hun. I am sorry. But they do need to do another ultrasound to confirm an approx. gestational age.

the ustrasound is most correct... i learned this the hard way....
the HCG is NOT good to go by at all... mine was measuriong at 3 weeks by HCG level when i was actually 8 weeks... EVERYONE is different with HCG...and after 12 weeks ( not 100% sure, but i do know its around 12-16 weeks) your HCG actually starts to drop.... most ulrasound machines work were, they measure the fetus, and it automatically gives a due date, or tells how far along you are by the measurement, so there no human middleman, just the computer, so its far more accurate, BUT you have to remember not all baby is the same, some babys can be smaller or bigger...but not enough to be off by more then a week or 2 , if it is, then something might be wrong.

thank you for the post...however...a couple of fact corrections...

I don't have endometriosis, that is when you have growth outside of the uterus, I have the opposite, which is growth inside of the uterus.

And, I never actually used the clomid, because you have to take it according to your cycle and I never had one, so I never took it.

Thanks for letting me know that they were able to pick up your 21 week baby heartbeat on the monitor, that is a relief...

I have had 3 ultrasounds, 2 regular and 1 level II, some measurements he is 3-4 weeks ahead of due date, others he is right on...

Oops I have been misinformed then, I was told endometriosis can cause the lining to just keep growing and growing and not be shed or it can grow in places other than the uterus. Thank you for your correction. As for the clomid, I did notice that mistake and edited my post.

I looked up my paperwork and what I have is endometrial hyperplasia. I can never remember what it's called!

I just did a bit of research on Endmetrial Hyperplasia. It says:
In most cases, endometrial hyperplasia can be treated with medication that is a form of the hormone progesterone. Taking progesterone will cause the lining to shed and prevent it from building up again. It often will cause vaginal bleeding.

Were you ever on progesterone therapy or was it not working? How do they fix your condition?

yes, progesterone therapy (which ironically can be most types of birth control which containe progesterone). The issue became when we decided we wanted to get pregnant and had to be taken off or it to try...heheh

that's when I stopped having a period/ovulating.

Unfotunately they dont' fix it, just try to control it...
