norm doctor will only go to 42 weeks so 2 weeks before they decide to induce but again depends on your dr.

My doctor prefers not to let women go past two weeks but providing the child or mother is not in distress she considers going longer

Extremely eHealthy
It's extremely unlikely (if even possible??'ve never heard of anyone being 4 weeks overdue, I can't imagine any woman would want to be!) - dr's tend to want to induce as after 42 weeks the risk the baby could die in the womb increases (and it does again after 43 weeks). They usually offer inductions from 41 weeks.

No, doctors do not like to let women go that far overdue because things start to break down. The placenta doesn't work very well and babies tend to stop growing. Most doctors will induce labor between 40-42 weeks.

Why are you asking?

when u say baby tend to stop growing and die when mother is over due ...how often it happens ?
it is rare ...
what about the risk of interventions for current and future pregnancies of that women ? is much higher ...yet all women get induced and many endup in massive surgery...there is no better out come there .........
it is all about money and power
dont think dr's wnt best for u or ur baby

When they're VERY overdue, yes. 42 weeks or beyond, the placenta begins to break down and the baby does not receive as much oxygen or nutrients. Also, the longer the baby stays in the womb, the bigger they become, which could make a vaginal birth more difficult.

Inductions done before or right at the due date can fail. Inductions done weeks after the due date are often medically necessary.

A doctor can not force you to be induced.

overdue babies
It is possible that you can go 4 weeks overdue!! I chose not to be induced and had to go for regular scans and CTGs to check all was okay, so when you do that, you can see everything is still okay. My last baby was 31 days overdue and the one before was 3 weeks and 4 days. I am currently overdue again but only 12 days so far!
