Pain after 2nd L4/L5 Surgery Posted: 06-19-08 17:58pm
I'm new here and would love some help!
I had hernia surgery on 2 disks (L4 &
L5) in 1991. I did great after that
surgery. In October of 2007 I fell and
hurt my back again and because I'm
stubborn I didn't do anything about it
until January of 2008. In March of this
year I had surgery again for a reherniated
disk L4. I felt really good after it, but
when the doctor took my stitches out I
started leaking spinal fluid everywhere.
After fiddling with that for 2 months, in
May I had another surgery to clean out the
area and put a drain tube in to release
the pressure to allow the wound to heal.
I was in ICU for 6 days and when I came
home I felt better than I had in months.
Two weeks later I got my stitches out and
was still feeling pretty good. A couple
of days after the stitches were out, I was
back to the pain in my back around the
surgery site, swelling, headaches, nausia,
tired, stiff neck, and sore/twitching
muscles down the back of my legs. I have
an appointment on July 2nd which is the
first time my doctor can get me in.
Does anyone have any suggestions on
getting some relief? I'm so frustrated
and feel so hopeless! I have been in bed
for 90% of the last 4 months. I just want
to be me again....thanks for allowing me
to vent.
