Pain immediately after a filling Posted: 04-17-08 06:46am
Hello everyone,
I really hope someone can help me. For
about a month I was in serious agony at
the back of my mouth and developed a
severe sore throat, head ache and ear ache
and was told by various people my wisdom
teeth were coming through, so I kept
taking painkillers and thought it would go
away. Anyway, I went to the dentist last
week and he said a white filling i'd had
put in about seven years ago had come out
and needed replacing. Two days ago he put
in a silver one and it is causing me so
much pain and I still have a throbbing
throat whenever it hurts. Painkillers do
ease the pain but is this normal? Before
he filled my tooth he gave me an injection
which really hurt and i'm not sure if
there's just a bit of trauma there because
it feels like the teeth are moving. Should
I leave it a few days or go back
immediately? I'm terrified he's gonna say
I need root canal surgery.
Thank-yooou!

Dear Zara-Maria,
As you said that there's pain in your
throat too I suggest for you to go and see
an ENT specialist (Ear, Nose and Throat)
maybe it's not just a dental problem and
if after the filling is still painful
there's no harm in asking for a second
opinion-
