I have been having some problems with my
breasts for a while now.
I am almost afraid of doing somethings in
case my breasts get bumped, they hurt so
bad.I'm afraid to pick up my son somedays
because he likes to wiggle and throw his
arms around me.
I went to the doctor and he told me it's
just a muscle in my chest that is inflamed
but it's been like this for nearly 3 years
now and everytime I go to the doctor he
brushes it off as an inflamed muscle.
It's to the point now where I have a bra
on 24/7,the only time I'm braless is when
I have my 15 minute shower and as soon as
I get out I throw on a new bra and I leave
it on until the next day when I have
another shower.My boyfriend isn't allowed
to touch my breasts,if he does I get
really sharp pains and they last for
about 5 minutes before it goes back down
to a subtle aching.
I don't think it's an inflamed muscle
because the pain isn't on the muscle,it's
closer to the nipple.
Does anybody know what this could be? My
doctor is completely uselss to me right
now!
Thanks in advance

The best advice I can give you is get a
new doctor. You could have a cist or
something worse. I know your in pain but
do a self exam it will give you a clue to
whats going on. Also you need to get a
mammogram, as painful as it will be, to
rule out cancer.
Good luck! And hey if you have something
really bad you can sue your current
doctor!

Don't you have a breast clinic whre you
live? This is a subject close to my heart
(if you will excuse the pun!) as I have
suffered from this for years. I have
fibrocystic breasts and every so often the
cysts flare up and become almost
unbearable! It is hormone-related - it is
likely to hurt more just before your
period or, as in my case, after the
menopause when your hormones are all over
the place anyway.
My first serious bout ended up with me at
A&E with suspected breast abscesses
but it turned out to be cysts, the fluid
of which was drawn off by needle - and I
can tell you, the relief is immense! To
be on the safe side, they gave me a
mammogram and a biopsy but everything was
fine. The cysts keep coming back,
unfortunately.
In your case, I would insist on a referral
to a breast clinic. I am fairly sure it
will be something that can be sorted out
either by diet (no caffeine! little
alcohol!) or some medication or treatment
and it is unfair of your doctor not to be
taking you seriously. As for a muscular
problem - I am at a loss to know what
muscle he is talking about since most of
your muscles are on the chest wall, not in
the breast itself!
Don't put up with this any longer - get to
a breast clinic and let a specialist see
what is going on.

there actually aren't any breast clinics
in my town, the nearest clinics are about 5
hours away.
I have done self exams and never felt
anything out of the ordinary other than
the pain of touching them.I've noticed in
the past few weeks that if I lie down the
wrong way I get a burning sensation in my
breasts that will last for about a
minute,it feels like the longest minute of
my life because I pretty much can't move,I
just have to lie there and wait for it to
pass.
I'm going to the emergency room in the
morning to see what they will say and if
they need to send me out of town then I
will gladly go! My boyfriend has been
telling me to go for so long now,he knows
that I have a long history of breast
cancer in my family and he keeps telling
me that I need to get checked out.I'm
terrified though, almost every woman in my
family has either died from or is still
fighting breast cancer.It scares me
because I am only 19 and that's something
I don't want to think about.But I know age
doesn't make a difference when it comes to
certain health issues.
So,I am going tomorrow.

It is a very good idea to go and get your
breasts checked, especially with your
family history, but I think you will find
it is either a cyst or a blocked milk duct
- your description of pain on lying down
matches my experience exactly. I also
find bending forward brings on the pain
and a throbbing sensation.
It would be very, very unusual for a 19
year old to have a malignant tumour so
please do not worry yourself unduly about
that.
Please post again and let us know what
happens. Good luck!

I would definitely get them checked.
However, you may not need to go to the ER.
Do you have an obgyn? They are really
good in that area. ER is usually not
covered by insurance (if you have it)
unless if the ER declares it an actual
emergency that couldn't wait until normal
hours for a normal doctor. I know its
very scary, but its better to go in now
than later just in case if there is
something there. The earlier something is
caught, the better. I'll have my fingers
crossed that it's nothing too bad though.
Keep us updated! While you are there you
should ask the doctor about how to preform
regular breast exams. She will show you
what to look for and you will feel a lot
better being able to check up on yourself
and know your body enough to see if
something is wrong

I wasn't able to get into the doctor
today,my car ran out of gas in the
driveway! Silly boyfriend said he was
going to fill it up for me yesterday and
even sillier me didn't bother checking the
gage when I started it up to warm it up.
The emergency rooms in canada are covered
under insurance I believe,as I have never
been charged for those visits.I usually go
to the ER if I am in a lot of pain and the
doctor's offices are closed.Which they are
always closed on weekends and usually
booked solid for a month,everytime I need
an appointment to get a prescription
refill I call a month in advance just so I
know I'll get in on time(or just barely)
I was taught how to do self exams when I
was young,I was told that there was a
higher rate of breast cancer in my family
and so I was taught young!
I'm going to call on Tuesday and see about
getting into my boyfriend's
doctor, hopefully he won't be booked too
far in advance.
I will update on Tuesday.
