painful period

My periods are so painful. They are beyond painful... they are unbearable Crying
or Very sad all I wanna do is curl up in a ball and cry and/or scream I am in so much pain.
I was reading on another forum that I am a member of how our moon time is supposed to be a powerful time for women...and essentially a happy time... when we are supposedly more in touch with Mother Earth and stuff, but my moontimes make me so miserable I can't feel powerful.

Like today, I am so crampy and in so much pain all I want to is curl up in a ball and cry, I am really really nauseous, and I feel sooo very bloated. I feel like a freakin blimp! My jeans won't even button without being so tight I can barely breathe (and when I sit down I am literally afraid they are gonna go "pop" ... and on me jeans are normally lose).

And I haven't even started my moon time yet! I am on birth control (Aleese)... and took my second inactive pill last night (third one will be taken tonight)
... so I assume I'll start either later tonight or early tomorrow (that's usually how my cycle works...
I never start on the day I start inactive pills, it's always 1 or 2 days later)
Arrrgh... I hate this!!! And it (the nauseousness, bloating, etc) usually lasts anywhere from 8-11days (from a few days before my moon time, until after it's over)
I am so miserable... I don't wanna move... hell, I don't wanna BREATHE... I just wanna curl up in a ball and scream!!! Mad Crying
or Very sad

How old are you and have you always had these symptoms? Could it possbily be due to the Aleese you were prescribed? Ibuprofen, at the earliest sign of menstruation helps me - nothing else! Family members told me that once I had children, the cramping should subside - it did not. I am 46 and have had severe cramping and huge clots since the onset of my menstruation cycle at age 14. You also could have endometriosis causing the pain. Have you been to a gynecologist with your symptoms?

I started my period at age 11. I am 22 now. The symptoms started back in 2004. I've tried Ibuprofen... doesn't help the least little bit. And I've been on the Aleese for about 6 months now. No... I haven't seen a gynecologist yet... just a regular MD (family doctor).

Have you had an exam to rule out endometriosis? What does the MD say about your symptoms? If you have not had these symptoms since the onset of your menstrual cycle at age 11, it could indicate some sort of problem such as endometriosis! Hopefully, your doctor will find the answer to control your symptoms. Until then, try a hot bath or heating pad. Aleeve or Midol seems to work for a lot of women, didn't for me!

Well... I have cysts... (see http://ehealthforum.com/health/i-am- fed-up-with-doctors-t138407.html) and she just says the same thing, "cysts are normal... all women get them... there isn't really anything that can be done...etc"

Get a second opinion - that is not correct! You should not be going through that kind of pain each month. Maybe a simple outpatient laser surgery will cure the problem. I assure you if she were having the same symptoms you are having, she would find something to help her!
