period 5 days late
Posted: 06-04-08 12:46pm

Hi, my period was supposed to start on may 30th so im 5 days late. I dont feel any different in myself, do you feel different if pregnant this early? I decided if I reach a whole week late for it then I will take a pregnancy test. Im really anxious about it right now so it could just be stress making me late. Theres all these feelings rushing through my mind making me really nervous which is giving me "the runs" -sorry tmi. No one I can really talk to offline about it.

Why don't you take a test now to ease your anxiety? Planned parenthood gives pregnancy tests for free and they have a lot of information about birth control options. You can get birth control very low cost and in a lot of cases it will be free. You cannot beat free birth control!

Im scared to find out, because what if I am? I dont have a plan or a clue of what to do, im trying to think of what to do if it turns out possitive so just incase I wont be totally lost. Its never been late before that I can remember, and I didnt use any prescribed contraception, just the pull-out method which isnt 100% safe. Theres a high chance im pregnant and I dont know what I will do if I am. I want to be prepared in advance.

So sitting there and worrying about it endlessly is going to make it better? You can think every single 'what if' you want to - but that isn't going to change anything.

If you are, you'll deal with it because you'll have to.

If you aren't, you'll deal with that because you have to.

Not testing and not knowing doesn't change anything.

if you were old enough to have sex, your old enough to take responsibility to your actions.
a pregnancy doesnt go away if you ignore it, like ingi said.
figuring out if you are now can get you thinking of what you are going to do if its positive. wondering about it is just going to stress you out.

The sooner you figure it out the sooner you can stop worrying and start deciding what to do in the future and how to tell you parents etc.

I bought a 2 pack of tests today and took them both to be more sure just incase the first was wrong for some reason. Both were positive. Looking at the lines I suddenly felt happy and excited but it didnt last long, im back to scared confused and anxious which seems about right considering my situation. I havent told anyone yet but I looked up online for a due date calculator. It says im due approx 7th february 2009, im 4 weeks pregnant. It still doesnt seem real to write that. I need a plan.

How old are you? Have you told the father?

Im 16. No I didn't tell the father, dont think I will because I dont want to be with him and he is a bad influence.
I want to keep the baby, but I have no money, no plan. My whole family live in poverty, my parents spend most welfare benefit money on alcohol and choose not to work. I guess I'll just claim welfare benefits too once the baby comes.

You need to go see a doctor and get some prenatal vitamins. I hope things go well for you.

Are you planning on continuing your education and eventually starting a career? And like Ingi said, you need to get yourself to a doctor and get healthy for your baby.

I understand that you have the option to "claim welfare benefits too" when this baby comes, but why do you want that life for yourself? Why not get a job now and atleast try? If youre so unhappy with the way your parents lives turned out and dont want to be a statistic, then change yours for the better of you and the child you are carrying.

Have you spoken with your parents yet? If you are set in your ways on keeping this child you need to move forth with your actions now. I had my first prenatal appointment at 6 weeks. You need to do that as well. Go get in to see a doctor. Start taking prenatal pills. You cant avoid the situatuon like a bad report card.

I personally think you should tell the father. Hard as it is, and as much of a bad influence as he is, he still has a right to know he fathered a child. Also, talk to your parents or a counsellor or someone you can trust. They can help you. Also, here we have peole that can help pregnant teens, find out if there is anything like that where you are-someone to advocate for you when you talk to govt agencies and that can help you get baby stuff together.

Thanks, I bought some pregnancy vitamins called pregnacare at the weekend and made sure no one I knew was in the shop and hid the box behind something else I pretended to need lol! and today I called my doctor surgery to make an appointment. I got one on friday afternoon. What usually happens there? I think we see the doctor first, then the rest of pregnancy we see a midwife. (in uk)

Reptar and Jessamyn I finish my last year of high school this month. Both my parents dropped out at 15 but I wanted to stay so I could get my high school qualifications. Depending on what grades I get when the exam results come out, depends whether I get accepted to college or not. Im supposed to start college in september with my school friends but now im pregnant Im thinking of putting it off a while.
I haven't told the father yet, I aggree he has a right to know but at the same time I dont want him in my life because of stuff hes into.
Also how is the best way to tell friends and family? no one knows yet, it feels like such a huge secret to be carrying around, but im dreading telling people.

I just walked into my mums room and said 'muum, ive got some news. Im pregnant' and that was that! and i told someone from my old school i was pregnant because i knew she would tell everyone, and that way i wouldnt have to, and just dealt with people as they came and spoke to me-much easier that way i found.
