Period irregularities
Posted: 05-01-08 09:20am

WELL MY PERIOD USUALLY STARTS ABOUT THE 28TH OR AFTER THE END OF THE MONTH EVERY MONTH, AND IT IS USUALLY HEAVY THE FIRST COUPLE OF DAYS AND GRADUALLY LIGHTENS UP LIKE MOST PERIODS. WELL THIS MONTH ON AROUND THE 25TH OF APRIL 2008, AT AROUND 10:30 P.M. I STARTED FEELING LIKE I WAS ABOUT TO START A HEAVY PERIOD BUT I KNEW IT WASNT QUITE TIME. WELL WHEN I WENT TO THE BATHROOM, I WAS SCARED AT WHAT I HAD SEEN. THERE WAS A LOT OF BROWN BLOOD IN MY UNDERWEAR, NOT NORMAL FOR MY PERIOD.... THEN THE NEXT DAY I WOKE UP AND THERE WAS BARELY ANYTHING THERE. I WENT ALL DAY WITHOUT WEARING A PAD, BUT I WAS SPOTTING HERE AND THERE. THEN ON SUNDAY THERE WAS THE SAME THING, LITTLE TO NO BLOOD. BUT IN A TURN OF EVENTS, ON SUNDAY NIGHT I WENT TO THE BATHROOM THINKING I WAS ABOUT TO START MY PERIOD AND INSTEAD OF BLOOD, THERE WAS A LIGHT RED, ALMOST PINK, SLIMY DISCHARGE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IN THE WORLD THIS COULD BE. I TOOK A PREGNANCY TEST ON MONDAY OF THIS WEEK AND IT WAS NEGATIVE. CAN YOU HELP???

Can’t say what exactly is happening to you but one thing is quite sure – that you are probably not pregnant because the pregnancy test was negative. These period irregularities could be due to a hormonal disturbance in the axis hypothalamus-pituitary-ovaries. You reported that you had had a cyst rupture 3 weeks ago. If that cyst was functionally active (hormone producing) it probably caused these period irregularities.

You may want to consult your gynecologist about this.
