Q: Period pains in early pregnancy

Are these normal? Since about friday I've been getting quite bad pains in my lower abdomen, on & off. Some are like period pains, others are more like stabbing pains a bit higher up. I don't remember getting them with my first pregnancy so they're a bit unsettling. I haven't bled at all but I'm terrified every time I go to the bathroom I'll realise I'm bleeding. I'm making an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow, but I probably won't get to see them for at least a week, so I need some advice from other mums/mums-to-be!

I have been having cramps on and off since about 4 days before my period was due. Some are very mild while others hurt more. I have also had very light tinted mucus (brown & pink) for two days, but everything has been fine.

I go tomorrow for my prenatal blood work

I had bad cramps early on in my pregnancy as well. I wouldn't worry unless you see bright red blood or a lot of bloood. Brown is okay as it is old blood. Congrats Zanny! I didn't even know that you were expecting again!

Period like cramps are normal, as long as they don't progress into severe cramping with or without blood.

I think everyone worries until they finally get to see their doctor.

I have had off & on period-like cramps throughout my pregnancy so far, and I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow. From what I hear, it's very normal...things are just stretching & moving around in there. Wink I'm sure you're just fine! Very Happy

I had them in early pregnancy with William. Try not to worry too much. What i was told, they are just ligament stretching.

my doctor and sister-in-law who is a nurse said cramps are ok as long as theres not bleeding along with the cramps. i have a few off and on,and like tiamccoy819 said, some were slightly a bit more painful but lasted a second. its just your body adjusting and stretching for the baby.

I've got some funny ones right now too. They're pretty weird, sometimes they hurt like period cramps and sometimes it's like my belly is doing this whole weird spasm thing. I called my doc (I still have her on speed dial from last time Laughing ) she said it's normal and not to worry unless there's bleeding.
