Period 2 weeks early on the pill Posted: 03-12-08 17:08pm
Hey Girls,
I've gotten my period 2 weeks early. I'm
27 years old and have been on the pill for
5 years or so (or more). At times when I
am under stress I have gotten my period
early. But this time I'm not under any
stress, and don't see any reason why I
should have received it early. First I got
it yesterday (brownish) and today i am
spotting red and can feel it in my lower
stomach (like as if i was having a
period).
Any suggestions based on experience would
be great.
Thanks

It sounds like breakthrough bleeding. Are
you taking your pill on time every day?
If you are late or miss a pill, chances of
spotting are very high. Are you on any
kind of antibiotic? This will sometimes
make the pill less effective and cause
spotting as well. If it continues, you
should go to your doctor to talk about
what is going on and maybe switching
brands.

i've had the same thing happen to me... i
have been on birth control for the past 4
years, and switched from alesse to yaz
about 7 months ago. this month, though, i
got my period a week and a half early. i
don't think i'm under any stress that is
out of the ordinary - in other words, i
have been under much greater stress in my
life and have not experienced early
periods. i DID, however, take one pill
almost 13 hours late about a week ago...
perhaps that is also contributing to the
early period.
