I have been to my GP, but he only gave me
some creams that didn't help at all. This
has been going on for over a couple of
years now and I just can't get the itching
to stop. I'm miserable and I try not to
scratch, but it's too much not to; and
then it ends up lightly bleeding. Should I
see an urologist or what kind of doctor
handles this kind of problem? I had no
success with my GP doctor.
Could this develop into a colon problem?
SINCERELY thanking someone in advance.
Itching to hear from someone who has
answers.

I doubt it, but you could
probably develop worse problems with your
anus.

I would suspect dietary
causes first of all. My anus gets itchy
sometimes after eating certain foods, like
cashews. You might play around with your
diet and see if you can improve anything
that way. Add more fiber, eat less fiber,
add more fatty foods, or less, eat more or
less of certain vegetables, etc. The
consistency of your poop goes a long way
toward keeping your bunghole happy. You
should take a nice, smooth dump without
straining, and you should strive for a
stool that doesn't leave you spending half
an hour chasing the last bits of mess
clinging to your backside either. Go for
the perfect medium.
To help mitigate the itch in the meantime,
you could try putting a dollop of Vaseline
or equivalent on your anus. It makes your
butt feel greasy, and you walk around all
day feeling vaguely like you crapped your
pants a little, but it always seems to
help me.
Of course, I'm not a doctor, etc., and
your situation could be entirely
different.
