infected Pilonidal Cyst
Posted: 03-02-08 18:28pm

the other day i noticed what i thought was a pimple right at the top of my butt crack.....naturally i attempted th pop it to avoid discomfort...however when i popped it the liquid inside of the pimple ruptured and didnt break the skin.....

i didnt think anything of it till the next day when it was really painful to sit....it felt like there was a golf ball under my skin filled with liquid that i was able to squeeze and it would slightly move....for 4 days i dealt with the pain hoping it would go away on its own....i did alot of searches on the internet it read that it was a Pilonidal Cyst and if it became infected it had to be drained through incision by surgery....

the only time i go see a doctor is when i break a bone and am slighty afraid of going to doctors...so i went into my bathroom and put a mirror on the floor and squatted over it......i took a sewing needle and punctured the lump till it bled but nothing came out....

the next day i sat down harder than i planned to and the cyst sprung a leak....so back into the bathroom i went squatting over the mirror and i proceeded to squeeze the lump......the pus was shooting out in a fine stream....the odor of the pus was terrible....i squeezed till only blood was coming out....

feels much better...anyone ever experience this or any doctors have any imput?...

You really should go to the doctor and get this taken care of. Chances are that it will come back. This is a common ailment for people that drive for a living. The cyst can be recurrent and become infected. Let the doctor drain it and give you antibiotics.

according to some info ive read, the cyst is recurrent even if i go to the doctor....it said a doctor can pretty much only drain it and remove ingrown hair if he sees any but thats about it.....

i can do that myself....fortunately i also read that after age 40 the cyst cant really come back....so i only got another 10 years to go....

if it comes back like in a short amount of time then i will definately go seek medical treatment but until that day comes, im my own doctor...

I am a nurse so I can appreciate self treating, as I guilty of the same thing. Be sure you use the antimicrobial, no rinse, hand wash to sterilize any instrument you use. If you can stand the burn you can cleanse the area with the no rinse hand wash as well. If you have pain, redness, swelling, and the area feels warm/hot to the touch (as compared with the surrounding area) you need to see your doc. These are all signs of infection. That is not something you should ignore. All the best.

Hey guys and gals, im new here

Same boat, never had it, a small pain at the bottem of my spine not alot just a smalllllll amount of pain, then the next day it gotter a little worst, then on the 3rd day i couldn't sit so i had my girl look at it, (god bless her) so she did it and it was red and everything, so she said maybe it's a pimple or a boil or even an ingrown hair, so she put on a hot hot wash rag, a clean one. So she kept doing that 3 to 4 times a day and nothing happend. So i went to my friends house and was watching the flyers game and it felt like i was sweating down there. It was kind of strange because i don't sweat sitting down lol. so i get up went to the bathroom and took a tp and wiped it and it was brown with a very foul oder, i was like oo crap.

So after watching the flyers lose Sad i went home and had my girl look at it and sure enough there was a hole, so i told her to squeeze it and she did again (god bless her) and all this liquid came out and it smelled really bad, so this is the 4th day i had it, i looked on the internet and found this, so i was searching some more and i have found 10 people who had order a thing called furuncle-med, they said with in 2 days the swollen went down and in a week they could do the normal things that they can do.

So i just order myself some and i will let you know how it is.

The thing i wanted to know do i need to see the doc to have them drain it or could i just drain it myself? since ive been draining it, and people are saying use a hot compress so the boil can come to the top? now when i looked on the internet there was a cyst and a track leading to the spot where it is leaking from. Am i to put the compress on where the leak is coming from or where the liquid is filled at? That is where this is getting a little confusing. Thanks and i feel your pain guys and gals i really do, and i'm only 30 years of age. Thank you.
