I've had mine for nearly 8 weeks now, and I still have pityriasis rosea. The good news, however, is that the bumps that formed on my hands and arms have slowly disappeared. I still have the rash-looking (crinkly-paper) spots on my body, but I hope those will disappear over the next few weeks.

Help

I have had this for about 4 weeks I guess or maybe longer. My herald patch is the only thing that seems to be getting any better. Does anyone know if that is how it is supposed to be. The other spots look exactly the same- no better. I am taking erythromycin-the doc. Gave me a months worth (60) to take. I have been taking them for about 1 week now but not much improvement.

Pityriasis Rosea
Posted: 05-31-06 16:08pm

I am a 46 year old female. My nurse practitioner diagnosed me with pityriasis rosea back in october 2005. I am fortunate that it does not itch nor does it cover more than my clevage line and stomach. Unforunately, it faded in december and returned in early january. I used a topical steriod and noticed the spots faded but never actually disappeared. In early may after an extremely stressfull time, I started breaking out more so I bit the bullet and went back to the nurse. She is still sticking to her diagnosis of pr and prescribed an antihistamin (sp), oral steriods, as well as the topical steriod. I was releaved when they all disappeared! But guess what, I finished with the oral and topical steriod as prescribed a week ago and this morning I woke up to more red spots on my stomach than before. I am waiting now for my appointment with the dermotologist. Come on now its going on 9 months! What is the longest anyone has heard this virus lasting?

Pytriasis
Posted: 09-14-06 23:17pm

I've had it for two weeks. I went to 4 doctors, and no one could tell me what it was, when I went back to the first because the itch was so bad, he thought maybe it was pytriasis so he gave me a prescription for steroids. I took 40mg tonight at 6:00. It is now 10:00 and it is almost completely gone!!!

I'm 17 yrs old. I just got a circular dry patch on my breast and thought it would go away in a couple of days. I was wrong- it's been over a week and and I'm getting more spots! Not to mention I'm on swim team! my team mates just think their bug bites of some sort. My doctor told me it will go away in a couple of weeks. Hopefully he is right.

PR Contagious?
Posted: 09-20-08 17:21pm

Hi I read all your posts and I feel your frustration.
I'm 26 and by boyfriend is 23. He had PR (that's what they say it is) when he had a bad cold back in Feb '08. The doctor told him its not contagious..yet I got it a month later from him. Now, its Sept '08 and I'm on my second round of it and guess what, my boyfriend just started getting it a second time too...probably form me. Basically we just keep swapping it back and forth to each other.
If a doctor tells you its not contagious, they are full of crap. They probably don't really know, but I'm sure they feel they have to tell you something because its their job. But through my experiences, it is contagious and it is very exhausting just having whatever it is we have.
I hope this posts helps.
