A sports doctor told me I have plantar
fasciitis. However stretching my calves
and massaging my feet seems to make the
problem worse. Since the problem started
almost two years ago, the only thing
that's really helped has been not running
and using good motion control shoes (I
overpronate). The pain went away but I
wanted to be able to run--running for a
couple minutes makes my feet tender for a
couple days. Inserts didn't help a lot, at
least not the ones I tried.
Anyway, I was wondering if this sounded
like plantar fasciitis to other people. I
tried some of the stretches last year but
they didn't seem to be helping very much,
and when I stopped, the pain actually
seemed to get better. Same thing right
now, after seeing the sports doctor. I
stretch, the problem comes back. I stop,
it goes away. And I still can't run. Do
you think I'm stretching too far? Not
enough? Usually I'll do calf stretches
with a wall or a step several times a day
and stretch until I can feel something.
Rolling my feet around on something might
help but I get that weird feeling of
something loose in my foot, like the
tendons or ligaments want to detach.
Has anyone else had this experience of the
stretches only making things worse? What
is the typical time to seeing
improvements?
