Pop-up ads are intrusive and harmful. Posted: 06-10-08 12:11pm
I really do love this forum, but the
pop-up ads and encrypted ads make it
undesirable. Even with browser addons
that are supposed to block intrusive
popups I still sometimes get them and my
malware removal programs recognize them as
malignant. The flash ads can't be blocked
without special browser addons and they
restart every time you load a different
page. It's like having the same "hey
you're fat!" commercial screaming at you
every time you change the channel.
I understand that bandwidth costs money
but throwing intrusive and loud ads in
people's faces every time they log on to
browse is both rude and discouraging for
the user. Personally I tend to donate to
sites that don't throw ads in my face that
force me to click on to stop the
sound/close the window to see what I'm
trying to look at behind it/open another
browser window.
I don't know how much control the site
owners have over this but I will tell you
honestly that I'm more inspired to donate
to support bandwidth by a paypal button I
can click at my own will than intrusive
ads that can be potentially harmful to my
computer.
Please find a less intrusive way. A lot
of potential subscribers are avoiding
participating on this site because of the
bombardment of pop-up ads.

We're looking into the matter.
It seems that there might be differences
between browsers. If you're using IE7
instead of Firefox, you might be getting
pop-ups even with ad blockers. Have you
looked into Mozilla Firefox as your web
browser?
We'll update you ASAP.

Darkmoon, what's the general content of
the ads you're seeing?
