proper diagnosis of mental disorder Posted: 04-20-08 10:14am
For the past 10 years my boyfriend has
been searching for answers.. No one has
been able to diagnose him. The family
doctor has been trating him for
depression, but the medication seems to
never really work.
Now, he does drink to surpress the
depressed, anxiety and just so he can
sleep. Since kindergarden he had high
stress about being around people. He gets
scared even now and runs away. He gets a
couple new jobs per year.. Just can't
stick to it. He thinks he's a horrible
person. Really he's the biggest
sweetheart
About 6 weeks ago he tried to kill
himself. They put him in the hospital for
2 weeks. He said he wasn't ready to leave
he is scared, because they're not doing
anything to diagnose him.
WHAT can they do? IS a brain scan optional
in canada. I am scared, becaus were having
our first baby. He's ran away and now he's
no longer in the picture with me. I hope
that some how we can find out what this is
so he can be treated and be able to succed
in society.

He needs to be treated for depression. If
the doctor seems to be doing nothing go to
another one. Your boyfriend needs to find
a doctor to listen and treat him. I am so
sorry this is happening while your are
expecting a baby. Congrats on the little
one. Take some time to focus on you and
the baby. Try to get your bf to see
another psychiatrist. He sounds like he
has an anxiety disorder as well. He can
succeed in society if he is properly
diagnosed and treated. Mental illness is
not cured but can be treated. Let us know
how you are!
