Prostatitis enterococcus faecalis
Posted: 03-04-08 07:03am

I have prostatitis, so says my doc. I sent in a semen sample and it came back with the enterococcus faecalis infection so I am on amoxycillin. Thing is i have had a course of Ofloxacin, Amoxycillin (low dose) and another antibiotic.
My current Amoxycillin is 3 tablets per day, 500mg each tablet, so 1500 per day for one month, 4 weeks. I am now onto week two and still have the pain dispite the medication. I have prostate pain in the front, pain in groin and down my legs although it isnt as bad as it was its still there nagging away.
He physically checked my prostate and it wasnt enlarged.

Is this normal for Prostatitis?

Thanks Simon

hello 2glio,
i know your post is quite few months old, hopefully you are still hooked into this site,
i hope the 1 month Amoxycillin course worked well for you, as i have also been diagnosed with the same infection, unfortunatelly for me i got the enterococcus in 2 places of my body, in the prostate and the colon and it was sexually transmitted to me by my ex g/f,
anyway, my doctor put me on a 2 weeks course of Amo (3 a day) but it didn't work and recently he repeated the same course, another 2 weeks and with the same antibiotic, but I'm not optimistic as i lost hope for a cure due to the fact that i have been carrying the infection for almost 3 years,
is there any alternative medicine to fight the Entero successfully?
after browsing in few medical websites about that particular infection, most of them says that the enterococcus in a hard infection to get rid with conventional medicine as it develop resistance to most antibacterial
take care and i hope you are doing fine,
