protected sex with prostitute
Posted: 05-12-08 02:41am

I had sex with 2 different prostitutes in the same week. This is the only time I have done something this risky. I wanted to know what the statistical chances are of contracting HIV using a condom. I did wear a condom both times. As well as the chances of contracting HIV if the sex-worker did have HIV, what are the chances of contracting HIV from 2 unprotected encounters if the person was HIV positive.

Thanks for your help.

according to this study the risk is 43%....with a condom I am sure your risk is less but still I would think about getting tested for HIV or other STDs. The AIDS virus will not show up in most people for at least 3 months. There are other sexually transmitted diseases to consider besides HIV.
Good Luck and play safe always.

what horrible information... The study you cite is based in Africa and seems to be a study of the transmission of HIV from unprotected sex encounters. The 43% you are referring to is the transmission rate of men with genital ulcers when having unprotected sex with an HIV positive person. Thanks for the information... you should be more careful with your responses here.

Sorry you found no useful info there. If you think because it was in Africa and you aren't that you are safer then thats your prerogative.Genital ulcers or not, the info was valid.You asked "what are the chances of contracting HIV from 2 unprotected encounters if the person was HIV positive. "
Good Luck.

HIV is very easy to contract sexuallyand also very hard to contract sexually.

If you have cuts and tears on the penis which are very hard to see, then infection will occur. If there are no cuts and tears and the other person is filled with the HIV, infection will not occur. There is no way into the bloodstream.

It is a tricky game.

My brother's wife died of AIDS and my brother (thanks be to God), never got it.

It is like playing the lottery.

Chances are without protection you may or may not catch HIV. Luck of the draw.

Always

It has only been 3 days since the last encounter and 5 days since the first encounter. I have a long time to wait and worry before I can take a test that will yield credible results.

Waiting sucks...just don't worry...chances are your OK and not positive...either way, you will be OK, mate...I have been + for many years and I'm still here and doing well...so don't worry.
