I would like to buy omega 3 from fish oil
at my local pharmacy or natural store, but
I don't know if they are all safe and pure
even though they write 100% pure omega 3.
In these stores I can buy the Jamieson
brand. I am really looking forward to find
out if they provide pure (no mercury) fish
oil.
Other available brands are
*Webber Naturals *NOW Foods
Are they 100% pure (no mercury) fish oil?
Space55, you want to make sure you buy a
high quality fish oil derived from
sardines, mackeral and anchovies because
they are low on the food chain and don't
accumulate as many toxins. In canada, all
fish oils have to reach certain standards.
Not sure the deal in the states however
with oils the addage is true that you get
what you pay for.
NOW brand is good (they have a really good
high potency one)
Nutra Sea is superb, caught in norwegian
waters where the pollution is much less
Renew Life has one with lipase to get rid
of "Fishy burps" if that is a problem for
you
Rule of thumb is to always buy your
supplements from a health food store, you
will get a far superior quality than a
drug store brand.
Hope that helps!

If you're concerned about mercury, rather
than buying fish oils for your Omega oil
intake, why not buy vegetable sourced
oils. You can get an organic vegetable
source oil such as organic golden flaxseed
oil which simply avoids the mercury
problem altogether.

The reason to choose fish is because they
have DHA, something that vegetable omega 3
sources do not have. This is not to say
that vegetable sources are not healthy,
but fish is definitely the way to go.
There is no 100% omega 3 source.
Even fish oil is about 25% omega 3.
Another good low food chain fish oil is
salmon (also high in omega 3)
Good luck!
