I am 40 years old and 18 weeks
pregnant. All of my 1st trimester genetic
screenings were normal(triple screen and
NTS) showing I was at low risk for
defects..My 2nd trimester screening came
back abnormal bringing the numbers from 1
in 319 down to 1 in 43 for Down's.I have
another ultrasound scheduled in 2 weeks at
the perinatal center..what would cause the
change in the reading from being normal 6
weeks ago to abnormal now?

i dont know what could change it but i
wouldnt worry to much until you know for
sure, i was 18 when i had my daughter and
my tests said she was at higher risk of
downs too, i had an ultra sound and it
said she was ok (although i got to get 3
of them because she wouldnt cooperate lol)
i also got an amnio and it came back fine
and now i have a perfectly fine 10 month
old baby girl. so dont panic until you
know for sure
