Radiation in early pregnancy
Posted: 10-02-08 14:59pm

Hi - I found out I was pregnant right before I was scheduled for lithotrispy for my kidney stone and was completely shocked. I had been in the emergency room about 10 days prior for kidney stone pain and was given a pregnancy test before a CT scan and xray. That was on August 14th - the test was negative, so we went ahead with the CT scan and xray. I took another pregnancy test on Aug 23 (my period was a few days late) which was also negative so I thought I was in the clear for the lithotripsy procedure. I took both a urine and blood test before my procedure on Aug 25 which both turned out positive.

I am very worried that my exposure to radiation has harmed my baby and have not really been able to speak to my doctor. I do have an appointment next week, but I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this or a similar situation.

Thank you so much!
