Reddish, Scaly, Non Itchy Rash On Children Posted: 08-28-05 23:16pm
My 5 year old has had intermiten rashes on
his body. They have looked a lot like
ring worm but they eventually go away.
The rash does not seem to itch either.
Now my 6 mo old daughter has a splotch on
each cheek and a few other splotches on
her upper thigh. Does any one know what
this is? They are reddish but vary in
color intensity, mostly circular, scaly,
almost flaky looking on top, non itchy.
Help?

Psoriasis? Posted: 09-05-05 10:03am
Sorry couldnt remember your name... What
you describe sounds a lot like psoriasis.
There are different types of psoriasis but
I have what you talk of, the reddish brown
small patches that eventually flake but
dont itch. It would appear to be
aggravated by stress, but you can get
cream from the doc to put on it for 30
mins followed by an application of
parrafin ointment which is left on
overnight, I think its cause is by the
skin growing too quickly in places. Like
every two days instead of the more normal
two weeks. If its the type of psoriasis
im thinking of then it likes to grow on
scar tissue. Hope this helps?

Are those spots always in the same place?
These are.

Not always but without seeing it I cannot
say that this is what it is just that it
sounds like psoriasis. I suggest that you
find a good website for psoriasis that has
detailed pictures that should put your
mind at rest one way or the other. Good
luck! Dexi
