I have two moles that bug me very badly -
one is under each of my armpits. I've
nicked them both many times shaving. Both
protrude from the skin very much. One is
not very big at all, while the other is
about half the size of a pencil eraser and
is two different colors of brown. Both
appear to be sunken in in the middle.
My cousin told me of a technique her
friend had tried to remove moles such as
mine. According to her, you can take a
piece of thread and tie it tightly
numerous times around the mole and leave
it there until the pressure eventually
makes the mole fall off.
I believe this could work, because (while
this is a disgusting example) i've read of
some sick individuals who will wrap rubber
bands tightly around the tails of cats and
kittens and they eventually fall off. I
think the same could happen to my moles.
Has anyone ever heard of or tried this
method?

I have a friend who tried that. And she
just had a little skin tag. Needless to
say it didn't work for her. It ripped
and bleed like crazy!
I myself, cut off my "skin tags" but would
not mess with a large one or with a mole.
It is best to have your doctor do it.
You really are not suppose to remove any
kind of mole yourself.

Don't mess around with moles. It's so
much easier to get them cut off (it
doesn't even really hurt that much.. Just
a pain to heal). The problem with tying
them off is in some cases your moles can
go really deep into your skin. You can
also damage the nerves in the area by
cutting off the circulation. Then if it
does work you are dealing with dead skin
that will still be attached to your body.
The techniques work with skin tags
because they hang off of your skin and do
not go below the surface.. Plus the piece
of skin that connects to the tab is very
narrow and easy to tie off.

I don't think it'd work in all cases
because sometimes, as someone else said,
it goes deeper under the skin.

And you just shouldn't do it because it
isn't safe/clean. You could get an
infection or other complications. Plus,
some moles are cancerous and messing with
them is not very intelligent.
