Right of the lumber-region back pain Posted: 06-21-08 08:43am
I'm a 36 year old back pain sufferer and
i've had back pain for the last 10 years,
i have had numerous episodes of acute pain
which have been excrutiatinly painful and
for the last year i've become cronic. I am
a father of 7 and i've recently had
another very acute 3 weeks of back pain.
It is completely debilitating and in the
last 3 weeks i have been to the hospital 3
times where i found that each time i went
i was considered a burden on them. They
gave me some pain-killers and just sent me
home, in other words put up and shut up.
On this particular episode i have managed
to localize the pain to the bottom right
of my lumber region which even when
touched i can feel the pain, i somtimes
can't even get up in the morning, as my
back becomes locked. Since it's become
cronic over the year i have lost 4 stone
because i am just so depressed i don't eat
as much as often and i can't sit for long
periods to eat anyway, so i hurried my
food in order to lie down to ease the pain
again, can anyone help and make any
suggestions as to what i can do?
I am seriously considering suicide, but
i'm in a dilemma in regards to the
children.
I have had an MRI scan which showed
de-hyrdation of discs l4 l5 and also a
slight bulge, but the consultant
reccomended that now evasive action was
really needed and that should i only
should concentrate on keeping flexible and
strengthening my muscles and so he left it
at that.

Hi
It sounds like what you're describing is
soft tissue inflammation due to chronic
tissue injuries, which can become worse
over time. Given the severity of your pain
and the functional limitations it's now
placing on you.
I am sorry that you are having such a
difficult time. However, back pain are
one of the most difficult disorders that a
surgeon faces because most people DON'T
need surgery. That does not mean that they
do not have pain, it just means that there
is no surgery that will be able to
successfully address the problem. It is a
common misconception that back pain
alaways stems from the pressure of a
slipped ,bulging disc or a trapped nerve.
This is misleading, the main cause of pain
is inflammation stimulating nerves,
causing the pain signal.
As far as diagnosis, treatment or cure,
more information is needed . Regarding the
worst pain in the morning, you should
consider a soft tissue injuries problem
rather than disc bulging.
It probably is time to consult with a
reputable medical acupuncturist or You can
start with your primary care physician,
who can help you determine your next step
or who you need to see.
Take care!

pretty much permanent if not treated. How
would it be treated?

Hello Alohatoall,
May I recommend that you seek advice from
the very best spinal
surgeons/neurosurgeons (with MD in back of
their name) that you can find in your
area.
PLEASE don't wait any longer to seek
proper advice from at least two spinal
surgeons/neurosurgeons.
