My ex-girlfriend and I broke up recently,
and I%u2019ve been worried about her being
pregnant from the last time we had sex.
It%u2019s consuming me horribly, because
it was hard enough already to end the
relationship. Could someone tell me how
safe I am?
She was taking BC (tri-cyclen) for at
least a year. She had her period on
Tuesday or Wednesday (not sure exactly)
and was supposed to start a new pack of BC
on Friday (as she usually does). However,
she kept forgetting to go to the doctor
for a new prescription, so she didn%u2019t
start BC again. We had sex the following
Tuesday or Wednesday (I can%u2019t
remember exactly) %u2013 i.e. 5 or 6 days
after she was supposed to start BC and 7-8
days after starting her period.
Now, I know I wore a condom during sex,
but I%u2019m still really worried because
condoms do fail at times. I don%u2019t
remember the condom breaking, but I still
can%u2019t get this out of my mind! Am I
blowing this up out of proportion?! Or is
there a significant risk?!
Sounds to me like it's fine. You said
yourself that you don't recall the condom
breaking (or falling off, I'm assuming).
You're blowing it out of proportion...just
take a couple breaths.
And, I have to applaud you for wearing a
condom. Too many people DON'T in your
situation and it bothers the bejesus out
of me.

Well, I'm mostly worried because I'm not
in touch with her anymore, so I can't
really find out if she gets her period.
Even if I was in touch, it's not something
I'd be comfortable bringing up.
