At my most recent eye test my optician
told me that she found a slight scar on my
retina in my right eye so I'm going to go
to hospital soon to have it properly
checked out there. She told me that it
isn't anything to really worry about but
as this is the first time anyone has
spotted this she wants to check that
everything is okay. Has anyone ever
experienced something like this before? I
haven't experienced any problems with my
vision and my optician told me to go
straight to hospital if I notice a sudden
increase in floaters but luckily I've
never had any problems with the few
floaters I have, I barely notice them
unless I look for them so hopefully this
will continue. She also told me that it
could just be natural degeneration or
something to do with the pigmentation -
has anyone ever heard of anything like
this? Would that be something that would
need to be fixed?

Personally if your vision is good in this
right eye I wouldnt let anyone do anything
to that retina. In fact if someone wants
to do any type of surgery on this
retina-due to this "scar"-get a second
opinion. It is a good idea to get checked
by a specialist to be certain it is only a
scar and not the beginning of a
detachement. Like I said-if your vision is
good, meaning normal, and it is only a
scar, don't let them do surgery. Good
luck-hope everything is fine!!!
