I've recently been reading about seed oils
being packed with antioxidants and omega
3s and 6s. It seems they have a history
in Eastern medicine - especially black
cumin seed. Now there are US companies
selling these oils to boost the immune
system or help muscles or joints.
I'd like to know what others think of
these. Passing fad, or something that
will truly work?
Sesame Seed Oil and Oil Pulling Posted: 07-29-08 21:26pm
I read something last week about using
sesame oil for oil pulling. Has anyone
tried oil pulling? It involves swishing
oils- sesame, olive, almond etc. in your
mouth for 15 to 20 minutes (ugh),
"pulling" toxins out of your body (or do
you sublingually absorb the antioxidants)
? Supposedly miraculous health benefits -
not to mention whiter teeth! I'm not quite
ready to try this, but it sure is
interesting.

using oils in your health regimen Posted: 08-06-08 14:32pm
I've tried oil pulling... i do it with
sesame oil. It's kinda hard to keep the
oil in your mouth for so long... but it's
cool because it draws the toxins out of
your mouth. I like it especially because i
have a coated tongue in the morning.
As for body oils.. i mean.. your skin is
your largest organ and it absorbs so much.
That's why it's a good health regimen to
do regular oil massages. I myself practice
Ayurveda, which is a 5000 year old
medicine. I use herbs and oils to balance
my body. The oils i use as a nasal oil and
then on my body. I use sesame oil in the
summer, although different oils are needed
in the winter. The one i use is called Anu
Thailam for the nose and Dhanwantharam for
the body.
I used to use coconut oil on my body but
it gave me pimples.
