Severe Chronic Headache W/unusual Side Effects
Posted: 10-13-04 22:36pm

I've had a chronic severe headache most likely from muscle spasms and have been receiving medication and therapy for almost 3 weeks with no improvement. Lately, i've had the sensation of smelling cigarette smoke constantly. I recently had deviated septum surgery and a resulting sinus infection and am taking antibiotics. Could there be any connection?

Possible sinus infection on-going despite anti-biotics, possible allergy to something - airborn or new furniture, new pet, new washing powder anything. In fact it doesn't have to be something new - it may just be that something has built up over time & your sensitivity to it is only now showing!!!!

I am so sorry that nothing is helping! I did have headaches post surgery each time.

Are you actually near any cigarette smoke when you smell it? Is there an ash try or anything near you or things that have it on them? (i cannot read a book that has been in a smokey house!!) my sense of smell was made very keen after the first sinus surgery and it can drive me nuts sometimes...

Have you mentioned this to the doctor?

Smelling smoke that is not there can be a sign of a simple partial seizure. I hope you contact your doctor and get help. So sorry that the infection has carried on.....Hoping you feel better soon!
