I dislocated (anterior) my shoulder about
a month ago, left it for five days before
having it put back in. It has since
dislocated 5 times and my dr is suggesting
surgery to have it pinned.
If I don't have the surgery would I do any
long term damage, also can you get
headaches froma dislocated shoulder.

I had my right rotator cuff repaired and
pinned due to repeated dislocation. The
problem you face by letting it go is the
mucscles and ligaments being stretched by
the dislocation. Surgery to fix the
shoulder is prudent. I have had no further
problems with my shoulder and my surgery
was 28 years ago.
I never experienced headaches associated
with the dislocation. It may be possible
if there is some tightening of the muscles
in the neck. That could trigger a
headache.
I hope you will consider your options. I
don't regret having the surgery and have
full use of my arm.
