Shoulder injury after surgery Posted: 07-13-08 06:58am
My son was a college baseball player
(shortstop). After sliding head-first, he
dislocated his shoulder. This happened 2
more times. He had surgery in April 2007.
His recovery was hard. He was not able
to throw well until a year later and after
2 steriod shots. He thought he was well.
The doctor released him to full
activities. He dove to first base, and
the shoulder sub-luxed and went back in.
That was in April 2008. He went back to
the doctor, but the doctor said his
shoulder was still stable. However, since
that time, he has experienced severe pain
when he tries to throw. He is through
with baseball now and has not thrown in
over a month. He says his shoulder still
hurts. What can he do at this point? He
certainly doesn't want to have surgery
again, but he also wants to play softball
or throw a football around. He can swing
a golf club well, but any throwing motion
is extremely painful. I would just like
for him to be able to participate in
recreational activites and to be able to
throw a ball with his children one day. He
is 23 years old. Can any one help?
