Skipping placebo pills birth control Posted: 04-17-08 11:45am
How safe is it to skip the white placebo
pills for Yaz for more then three months?
I've heard a lot of people say that a
period is not really necessary anymore, so
is it save to skip the white pills and go
straight to the next pack if I have
breakthrough bleeding anyways? Or is part
of the placebos a necessary break from the
hormones?

You do not need a break/period, you can
keep taking them as long as you want to.
You may still have some breakthrough
bleeding, but that is okay, it does not
mean that anything is wrong.

There is no medical reason why you can't
keep doing this. However, maybe you
should consider switching to a birth
control pill designed for women who only
want to have a period every few months
(like seasonique).

So....Not having a break from the hormones
in the pills can't harm me? I figured it
couldn't hurt me period wise, because even
though I always skip the placebo pills I
still have breakthrough bleeding.

I cannot hurt you EITHER WAY.
You do not need to change pills in order
to skip periods.. YAZ is a mono phasic
pill, meaning all one hormone, and that is
the best way to skip a period.
Seasonale is just in a pretty package, and
more expensive.
NUVA RING is often given for period
skipping because it can be cheaper than
pill. NUVA RING is actually effective for
4 weeks, not just 3, so it makes it
cheaper to skip.
Penguins- ANY pill that is monophasic can
be used to skip periods, not just one
type.
