spotting on patch
Posted: 05-07-08 09:26am

I'm new in here, but i needed opinions fast and I googled this forum. Well, the last half a year I have been having problems with my period. So I decided to get back on birth control to straighten it out. Well, I just got on the patch last month. I spotted almost everyweek except the third week. Well, now its the fourth week and monday I thought my period was starting because blood on underwear. Anyways, sorry if this is tmi. I put a pad on and I wore it all day. When I took it off that evening it was not even 1/8 full. The same thing yesterday. And its still looking that way today. Is my body not adjusted to the patch yet or is something wrong? I did have unprotected sex twice last week and once on sunday. My fiance couldn't keep his hands off me. Embarassed
I also might think this is related to me having my son a year ago. I know sometimes a baby can screw up your period, but i just need advice.

Welcome to ehealthforum! The spotting is most likely related to you going on the patch. It sometimes takes the body a few months to regulate to the hormones and for spotting to stop. If you were on the patch for one full week before you had sex without a backup method then you are protected. You said your fiance and you had unprotected sex last week, so I'm guessing that is more than a week after you started. If that is the case, you are protected.
