Stomach Pain After Eating Posted: 05-07-08 21:01pm
Nearly three weeks ago I developed a bad
stomachache almost like indigestion after
anything I ate or drank (possibly caused
by bad sushi from publix, though its
doubtful since it was bad enough to spit
out and I hardly ate any of it. Though I
had very runny but brief diarrhea the
following day after I ate it).
The pain has persisted for the three
weeks. I am healthy and get a good amount
of exercise. I eat slow and chew my food
well. I recently quit smoking and
drinking(a couple months ago). But,
stupidly, I had been experimenting
different substances like opium tea,
derived from dried pods, kratom gel caps
as well as kanna powder. I experienced a
tightness in my stomach mainly after the
opium use, but it was nothing as painful
as it is now.
I discontinued use of any substance once
the pains started.
I'm scared because I know I couldn't live
with this chronic pain and inability to
eat in peace. Please help me.
Stomach pain after eating or drinking
usually indicates some stomach disorder.
Stomach inflammation (gastritis) is the
most common reason but stomach ulcer can
be also possible. Smoking, alcohol an
those "experimental staff" can damage the
stomach mucosa and cause chronic gastritis
and even ulcer. Stomach cancer is the
worst possibility. Have you drunk a lot
for a long period?
Stomach pain that lasts for more than 3
weeks requires few medical examinations:
clinical examination, standard blood tests
(blood count, hemoglobin, liver status,
urea, creatinine...), occult blood test,
Helicobacter pilory - test, abdominal
ultrasound. Gastroscopy can be done later.
Can you afford these medical
investigations?
