Q: stopped pill missed periods

I'm hoping i can get some advice. I was on the pill for about 4 years. My husband and I decided that we would probably be wanting kids within the next 2 years, though not right now. I talked to my doctor and he said that it takes about 8 months for most women to become fertile again after they stop the pill. I stopped in march and got my period regularly in April (26th). but i have not had it in 2 months now. I took one test at the beginning of june, which came out negative. Any ideas as to what is going on?

It can take a while for your body to readjust when you get off the pill. Missing periods is not uncommon, you may also experience side effects like swollen or tender breasts, cramps, mood swings. It is all from the hormone change from coming off of the pills. I did have a friend who came off of her because her and her husband decided to try and have children and she got pregnant right away. So you never know, I would test again in a week to be safe! Good Luck hun!

i was on b/c for two yrs when dh and i wanted to concieve. I went of the b/c and NEVER started my period. They gave me pills to try to start it and nothing worked. They said i also obviously was not ovulating. But i ended up preg. 6 mths later even though i never had a period. It was such a shock to us b/c they told us it would take longer b/c they needed to get me to start my period. So you never know, if you guys are wanting to wait longer like it says in your post...still use some sort of protection. If you keep takin test and they come up neg. i would go get a blood test done. HTH
