Symptoms of stroke can vary depending on
the location of brain damage and the
progression of that damage. If stroke
damages motoric zones of the brain cortex
or motoric nerve roads, there will be
paralyses or cramps of some muscles. If
sensitive parts of the brain cortex or
sensitive roads are affected there will be
numbness present or sensitive
hallucinations. If the cerebellum is
affected, the dominant symptom is
dizziness and vomiting. Headache,
vomiting, stiff neck and photo-phobia are
present in case of subarachnoid
hemorrhage. If important nerve centers in
the brain trunk are affected, for example
breathing centre, asphyxiation and death
occur.
Single numbness of one arm and half the
head can rarely be due to stroke . Stroke
is usually manifested by more dramatic
symptoms.
If that numbness doesn’t disappear for
one day you may want to consult your GP
and, if necessary, a neurologist.
