Switching from Yasmin to Seasonique
Posted: 07-09-08 10:22am

Hi everyone. I was on Yasmin for 2 1/2 years. I had really painful periods, so my Dr. decided to put me on Seasonique. I started taking Seasonique and had a barrage of bizarre side effects in the beginning of the second month. Constant heavy bleeding, I gained about 6 pounds, my boobs were killing me, extremely emotional, and bad cramps. When it came around to the third week of this (never stopped bleeding,) I called my Dr and told her of the side effects. She said the dosage was probably wrong for me, and put me back on Yasmin. I started it IMMEDIATELY (on Dr.'s orders,) and am now on my third week of Yasmin. In the first/second week of Yasmin, these side effects dissipated, for the most part. My question is this:

Now, my breasts are REALLY sore. Really sore, and swollen. They usually get a bit tender before my period, but not this bad. The only time I can remember them hurting this much was when I was pregnant, (and in that fifth week of Seasonique,) and I can't help but feel some concern. I haven't had any other of pregnancy really, no cramping or anything like that. But then again, that was the only sign I had last time.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I was sexually active throughout the course of this, except for the days I was bleeding.

Is this just my body reacting to an insane mix up of hormones, or could I be pregnant, getting signs THIS early on?

Have you taken a test? I guess I would go and pick up two (sometimes they come in a two pack even!) and take one now...then wait a couple days and take the second. Just to make sure...you know. Becuase, I'd think if you are indeed pregnant, you'd wand to know right away.

Secondly, Seasonique is one of those "lighter/fewer periods" pills that I don't like very much. I was reading through the side effects on their website and Seasonique explained that you will experience spotting and FLOW LIKE A REGULAR PERIOD outside of the regularly scheduled period?! What is the point for taking the pill than??? Honey, I'm sorry you're experiencing such bullcrap.

Anyways, there's a lot of hormones in there...I personally would just chalk it up to that. Or else, have you been having an rough sex lately?? (jokes). But, for the sake of knowledge...I would take a test. Smile
