switching pill and depression
Posted: 05-05-08 19:21pm

i had been taking yaz for over four months, when i noticed i just wasn't myself anymore. i used to be happy and cheerful and i had become moody and angry all the time. i would often cry for no apparent reason and would have daily anxiety attacks which became increasingly worse. i finally switched my pill six days ago. i've been feeling slightly better, but i'm wondering how long it will take for these side effects of yaz to go away. if anyone has gone through this with yaz or another pill i'd really appreciate some stories and feedback. i'm not looking for an exact day when i'll feel "normal" again. i know that might take time, but an estimate would be great! thank you for your help everyone

All birth control pill types can cause depression as a side effect. But not all women that use birth control pills develop depression. Depression occurrence also depends from your personality.
Had you ever been depressed before started using birth control pills?

In that case, your depression was probably provoked by the birth control pills you've taken. You can change the type of pills for now but if doesn't help you can stop taking any birth control pills and try some other contraceptive method (condom, IUD etc.).

wow...after reading all this info from other women about this particular BC i really feel like i am not alone...i have been loosing my hair, i have been really depressed, moody, anxiety REALLY bad. i had an anxiety attack that just about put me down for a few days, and the decreased sex drive (sorry babe). also, i have been having some heart pumputations. this has been soooo scary. i know that i should go to the doc. but after seeing all this info i feel that this BC is doing this to me. i am NOT my self. happy go lucky mommy of 3 awesome hubby have a nice home. dang, i need to change my method.
