Thanks to the person who cautioned me on retinoblastoma!!!

I don't remember your name, so if you are around, please remind me of who you are.

I want to thank you for notifying me about this problem of "white glow" in the eyes of my daughter whose pictures I posted here back in January after my baby was born. She is only three years old, and she doesn't have retinoblastoma, but after getting a second opinion today about having to wear glasses and farsightedness, I have found an excellent optometrist who has diagnosed her with a condition that I can't remember, but it is extreme farsightedness which can only be corrected with pediatric contacts.

The reason why there was a glow in her pictures was not from eye cancer, but from the hazy unfocused reflection in her farsighted eyes. If this isn't detected early enough, a child can be blind in a matter of years.

Although her condition breaks my heart and it is going to be very hard to learn about contacts (no one in my family even wears glasses and I have no experience with any eye conditions) I am truly grateful to you for bring up the question which caused me to have her eyes examined and find this condition before it was too late.

Thanks to you, in a few weeks she will have her new contacts and be seeing things more clearly and her eyes and brain will be learning how to see things for the first time.

Thanks to ehealth and thanks to Tmddyan for bring me here as well. I am forever in your debt.

Vanessa

Thanks Dyan. I guess as a person who already wears glasses, I geuss it isn't as hard for you to imagine someone else having to wear contacts for the rest of her life. I've never had problems and somehow didn't ever have an eye exam when the rest of you went with mom.

But you are right, it is going to make her stronger. I just have to try to convince myself that it isn't my fault and I'm having a really hard time doing that.

no it isnt your fault ---not at all. I think she is a very special little girl and there is a reason for this. God has something in mind and He sees CC as someone that He can give suffering to and that will use it to help others with.

You are very special to have her as well. You are a great mom--those kids, though they dont know it and dont appreciate you right now will grow up and say "Wow, thats my mom, I didnt realize how lucky we were to have her. How I wish i behaved better and didnt complain and whine like I did----Thankyou Mommy for being there for me"

I think that you to ---with your back can imagine what its like to have something for the rest of your life too---yes its different, but it will always be there.

Hang in there, when i have enough money for two or 3 tickets we will all go to Lourdes, France. Smile hang in there. im here for you

Hi Vanessa, You are one very special lady and your daughter is going to be just wonderful. Thank God for modern science and the miracle of the invention of contact lens. Just think, on down te orad, such a now they have the laser eye surgery for no need for contacts or glasses. Hopefully one day, this will be an option for CC. You can not blame yourself for genetics sweetheart. You are a terrific Mother. You are so smart and I have learned so very much from your contributed comments....who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I am moving you from my contacts to my "friends" contacts list. You have a beautiful little girl who will one day SEE her Mother as the beautiful person that I see. Hugs! Lynne
