I have just been diagnosed with TMJ. For 3
weeks I have had periods of severe pain in
my face and neck. I have intense pain in
my tonsils and jaw when I lie down or sit
with my feet up. My dentist is going to
prepare a guard for me to wear at night to
stop me grinding my teeth. Do you think
this will help?
My doctor has not heard of anyone
suffering pain when lying down.
Is this a common symptom of TMJ ?
Within the last 2 months I had an
operation, and was wondering if the
"breathing apperatus" used in hospitals
could have dislodged/ stretched my jaw
while they were inserting the breathing
tube??
Anyone else heard of this.

tmj tonsils Posted: 04-26-08 06:49am
I am using pain killers prescribed by
doctor for when the pain is really bad.Its
working at the moment. The doctors are
doing allkinds of blood tests to see where
the pain in tonsils is coming from. They
dont know about TMJ becoming worse when I
lie down, they have not heard of this
before !

Tonsils, pain.. Posted: 04-28-08 21:04pm
I also have a problem with tonsils on same
side as the pain. It has been inflammed
and red for last 2 years. Mazda, I am
happy they are investigating it - the
doctors I've seen usually brushed it
aside. I was so upset, common, you know
your body, your tonsils do not chronically
hurt and are not enlarged except for when
I had a flu or a cold. I am thinking it is
inflammation related to the TMJ tissues,
but noone has explained it to me what
exactly is the cause of it. Usually,
tonsils are involved in autoimmune
response. Possible link with TMJ? I don't
know.
