Im 38 weeks pregnant and due to unforeseen circumstances i basically need to give birth by a specific date, so is it too late to book in for a c-section?

You don't usually get to 'choose' a c-section. Please speak with your doctor.

Why choose a cesarian of fear of pain? You'll be under immense pain afterwards and the recovery takes alot longer. Also, convinience. Is it really convenient to go under major surgery when you can go natural? It is best for both mother and baby to go natural, unless you haven't got an option and it is seemed safer to have a section

The only way they will take baby early is if you or s/he is in danger. And if it needs to come out by a certain date BECAUSE OF YOU OR THE BABY, they will most likely induce you. But if you have to have the baby because of life circumstances (i.e. someone moving/leaving/etc) I HIGHLY doubt they'd take baby early. Talk to your doctor definitely.

a c-section is a risky procedure, and is only done for health reasons of the baby or mother while delivering, if the baby is breeck or a slow heart rate, you dont get to choose a c-section becaue its a big procedure, so they would most likely say no to booking a c-section unless theres a health concern. and like Lilly Ivy said, they would indice you for another reason if you have to have the baby on a certain date.
but.. why are you saying you have to give birth on a specific date? some babies are born like a week late or a week early, or a day late..i highly doubt they would let you have a c-section if you and your baby are doing fine, you should talk to your doctor about when you go into labour and you fearing the pain.

if its fear of pain, ask for your options of pain meds and set up a pre plan for it. i did for an epidural, but couldnt get one cuz i progressed to quickly. i was terrified of the pain and wanted a c-section so bad at that time. i ended up having to go all natural w/o any pain meds. it went fast so i was lucky. the contractions hurt a lot but not enough to make me not want to do it again, think the crowning made me feel that way lol. i got an episiotomy and 3rd degree tear, would so do it again! c-sections are worse i think in the end, least my exp friends saybut idk, just glad i got over my fear and diddnt have to go thru such a major surgery!

i think the poll results speak for themselves. people don't choose to have major surgery when they are capable of pushing a baby out the old-fashioned way.

I'm just confused. I seriously can't think of a single circumstance that would require you to have your child by a certain date. Shed any light? I don't want to sound judgemental since I don't know what your circumstances are but I think you're just a bit confused. Birth isn't something you schedule like a facial. And if you have medical reasons for wanting to request a c-section, your doctor would be the one to talk to about it.
