Could I Get Diabetes Too? Posted: 07-12-07 22:22pm
My sister has been hypoglycemic for as
long as I can remember, my maternal
grandfather was diabetic, my aunt had
gestational diabetes when she was pregnant
with her kids, and my mom just found out
that she has type 2 Diabetes. It is
obvious that it runs in the family...could
I be next? I am going to the doctor
tomorrow to get tested just in case if I
do have it...I honestly hope not, but with
all of my symptoms I think I might...how
do you change your lifestyle so that to
deal with this. My mother found out a
month ago and has really not changed much
in her lifestyle like she was supposed to
and refuses to do the finger prick
everyday...I want to change my lifestyle
if I do have it though and want to help
her change hers..how do people do this?

Your chances of developing T2 diabetes is
almost zero if you're thin, exercise
moderately, and eat natural foods- for the
rest of your life. That's all you have to
do. Given your genetic history, it seems
you're at high risk for developing
diabetes, but the power is truly in your
own hands to stop it.
