Plastic Surgery After An Injury
Posted: 07-13-07 18:17pm

I had a terrible fall on Sunday July 8th 2007.I went to the emergency room, and my nose is broken, busted open inside and my lip is cut from the inside out. I was stiched up and the next day had a surgery to repair lacerations on the inside of my nose.
The way the stiches are on my lip,at this point, resembles someone who had surgery to correct a hair lip.
I am so afraid of what this scare is going to look like when it is all healed up.
My Question is ,when is the best time to go to a plastic surgeon...now before it heals, or will they tell me that I have to heal before they can do anyhting.
I am also thinking that maybe the insurance company will pay if it is an injury and not just for cosmetics>>>>Any advice???

If it were me, I'd make an appointment with my Dr (plastic Dr). I would explain to him I had concerns about the insurance covering this, which I believe should cover it, because it IS from injuries and not for cosmetic purposes. My Dr would want to see what he was up against from the beginning, and also this looks good if its pretty close to the time you just had your accident...insurance purposes. They may even pay for htis initial visit. If not, at least you know the answers! FInd a good reputable PLascit surgeon and one that will listen to you. Wish you were in Georgia, I'd refer you to mine! Good luck!
