Is This Night Terror , Or Something Different ?
Posted: 07-14-07 14:53pm

Ok, where to begin. A couple of months ago I moved home from college, and one of the first nights I was back I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that I was in a tiny box and couldn't breathe. I started screaming "Oh my God" over and over again and crying -I was fully awake and can remember it perfectly. I ran for the door, feeling I was only safe if I got to some light. It has happened about five or six times since then, where I wake up crying, terrified at something and thinking I am suffocating and I run around my room trying to find the door. It only lasts a few minutes max but it gets worse in those few minutes. I don't know whats going on.
I read something about night terrors, and there are a few resemblances but it also doesn't sound quite the same. Is there anything else it could be?

Clinton (LOVE the name),
I have awaken several times feeling like I was
being smothered, I was coughing and my heart is pounding!
I THINK it may be sleep apena, but when I first wake up, I'm terrified-like someone was smothering me! I think perhaps the brain is trying to rationalize? It's very scary, yours sounds awful! Exclamation
Best of luck!
Monica
