I just got out of the hospital and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I was wondering if taking the weight loss medicine Alli could cause me to develop
this. I dont drink alcohol and my gallbladder has been removed so I dont have stones.

It is unlikely that Alli or any other diet meds caused the attack, if you have had great weight loss and gain that often causes the stones and sludge in the gal bladder, if it was removed recently that could be it. However some people have a congenital (birth defect) that cause a "blockage" of the digestive enzymes leaving the pancreas, (it is a bile duct closure) also there is a more difficult to diagnose disfunction called spynchter if Odi it is the main valve between the pancreas and gal bladder (still remains after having GB removed) this can close off and cause pancreatitus as well. If you have another attack in the near future you may want to investagate these. good luck and be well.

I am still having problems with abdominal pain and fever. I had a Cat Scan done when I was in the hospital and it showed that my bile ducts were enlarged. One doctor said he thought it was a blockage but another said that they were just enlarged due to my gallbladder being removed. Either way nothing was done. Now my primary doctor and the GI doc said there is nothing more they can do. My GI doc did refer me to Scott and White hospital but I called and they wont take me because I dont have insurance. Now I have no clue what to do.I cant work and my family wants me to go back to the ER.All they do is give me pain meds so its just a waste of time. Anyway thanks for reading my post. I appreciate any advice.

This maybe tough to do sometimes, but if your not working you should go to your local welfare office and request and emergency medical card, usually they are good and take care of everything (mine did).
This is a very dangerous disease if untreated, these last forms I told you will not go away I didn't notice what state your from but Ohio has a fantastic hospital in Cleveland, also if you check with other hospital in your area they may have a low income program Good luck and for now if you find yourself in pain, cut you diet to clear fluid for a day be sure to drink a lot of water. The next day try some jello and broth maybe some toast the slowly work your way up to normal diet which should be low fat high in carbs. Good Luck
