Alright- First off--- Thanks everyone for
all your advice on my last questions. Very
helpful.
Now--- I went to the doctor today..
FINALLY! After weeks of them rescheduling
me. Anyway, he examined me. I'm at like 38
weeks and he told me at my last
appointment that he doesn't like to let
his patients go over 39 weeks. Well today,
he examined me and told me that I'm not
even close.. but yet my baby is down and
in the ready position. He also informed me
that my pelvic region is really small and
he doesn't want to let the baby get any
bigger than she is already. He told me
that at my next appointment next week, he
is going to try and "stretch" things out a
bit and see how that goes if I haven't
already gotten anywhere. So anyway, my
question is.. I take it that if my pelvic
region is too small, then I might have to
have a c-section!! Anyone else have this
problem?

Your pelvis is meant to stretch when you
are pregnant. Your body produces a hormone
called relaxin which does pretty much what
it sounds like it does, it relaxes your
pelvic canal. You know how some women's
hips get bigger after they have a baby?
Yeah...
This is rarely a problem. It can be. But
please, do not fear anything because you
may be worrying needlessly. Doctors often
tell women their babies are 'big' and they
worry they won't be able to deliver
naturally. A lot of times, the babies come
out weighing 7 lbs and there was no need
for that mother to worry.
There are no guarantees for anyone that
they won't need a c-section. I'm glad you
are getting your membranes stripped (that
is the 'stretching' procedure he is
talking about). That should help things
along.

there are labour and delivery positions
you can use that will expand the pelvis,
like squatting. that might be a good
thing to look into. no one says you have
to give birth on your back. maybe you can
discuss it with your doctor. walking and
squatting are two ways that can expand
your pelvis, along with the relaxin. good
luck. i hope you don't have a c-section,
but whatever is best for the baby, right?
