i took a shower this morning got out and
noticed that i was dripping on the
floor... and it wasn't water. my right
breast was leaking a whitish fluid... i
can only assume since i just miscarried
that i am leaking breastmilk or colostrum?
what do I do... i put on a tight sports
bra... now what?

why a tight sports bra? just curious.
isn't that uncomfortable for you? you
don't want to jam things up. i dunno,
they just tell you not to constrict things
usually so you don't get a blocked duct or
whatever. you can try either ice packs or
warm compresses to stop the milk or get it
all out. that's what they tell you to do
when they get engorged when you are
nursing. maybe pick up a few breast pads
for now, until it stops. other than that
i don't know. i know that you can make
breast pads out of layers of flannel
material if you can't get any disposable
ones. they showed us that at my healthy
start program. they just layered a bunch
of flannel circles together and sewed them
up.
* oh and i've heard things about cabbage
leaves (on the breasts), sage and
peppermint (orally) but i don't know a lot
about it. maybe some of the other ladies
know more about that.

i put on the sports bra cause when my
friend delivered and she didn't want to
breast feed they wrapped her in bandages
tight... but i guess since i started to
leak... i should just stay comfy and not
mess with them and wait for it to stop?

Found An Article....hope It Helps!! Posted: 07-18-07 06:07am
Following a miscarriage, the sadness of
losing your baby can be intensified by
breasts that are filled with milk. And the
pain you experience is not only physical,
but emotional.
Several days following your miscarriage
you may have noticed that your breasts
suddenly became full and uncomfortable. To
prevent severe engorgement and the
accompanying pain, I would recommend using
cold cabbage leaf compresses as soon as
possible. These should help to provide
some physical relief from pain and
fullness. Many women also report that
cabbage compresses dramatically reduce
their milk supply. The time that it takes
for your milk to "dry-up" varies
considerably from one woman to another.
To prepare cabbage compresses, wash
several cabbage leaves, and allow to dry.
Place in a zip-lock style bag and store in
your fridge til needed. When ready to use,
slightly crumple a chilled leaf in your
hand. Place one or more leaves on your
breast, covering all areas. Use your bra
to hold in place. Change about even two
hours, or as the leaves wilt, until your
flow is reduced.
While your breasts are still full, you
will probably feel most comfortable
wearing a sports bra, since it is very
supportive. Do not bind your breasts. This
is an outdated practice that should no
longer be recommended.
If your breasts become very uncomfortable,
you can hand-express just enough milk for
comfort. This small amount will not
increase your milk supply, will help to
make you more comfortable, and will help
to prevent a breast infection.
You may also find that applying ice packs
to your breasts three or four times a day,
will help to reduce any pain and
inflammation you may be experiencing.
As you heal, wishing you and your family
my very best

thanks for the article... you realy love
to do research. I took of the binding
bra.. and just put on my sleeper , way
more comfy. If i was not working heck i
would express and get a good supply and
donate it to the local hospital who uses
donated breast milk for nicu babies... but
i don't think my bosses would be
understanding of that.
