Pregnant, Scared...advice?
Posted: 07-19-07 04:49am

Hello,
I am 20 years old and recently found out I am pregnant.
My boyfriend and I talked about it and decided an abortion is
the best choice. We are both college students who are NOT financially
stable and young ourselves. Although i've always loved babies and know
that in the future I would LOVE to be a mother, right now is not the right time.
I'm trying my best to not let my emotions get the best of me, but i know that this is the best decision. It's just heart breaking because its a situation that i never thought i'd be in, and im giving myself a really hard time. AM i being selfish? My boyfriend and I are not telling anyone, we are keeping it to ourselves, but i feel like i need to vent, i need to talk to other women who have been in my situation, maybe a few words of comfort? How was your experience? I am scared, but i know and pray that all will go well.
although i have researched and have made my decision, i still have questions.
Is it really painful? .... would you recommend Planned Parenthood? any words of advice?? I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much<3

I do not reccomend PP for an abortion.

Here is why..

MOST abortion clinics offer asleep sedation, or IV sedation which makes an abortion PAINLESS. Many PP locations do not, and they sometimes charge more than other private clinics do.

Nothing against PP, but they do not offer the same anesthesia services that other clinics do.

Here is a list of aboriton clinics around the US.

http://www.gynpages.com

It has the clinic websites, how much they charge, and the types of IV sedation that they offer.

My abortions were painless, but that is because I had IV sedation.

Hello, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I can relate.

Selfish? I think it is selfish to have children.

I went to a private clinic. I would recommend them over PP as well. There was minimal pain, only discomfort. I was extremely relieved when it was over, and by three days after, I was back to feeling like I had before pregnancy. (I was one sick puppy!) I had minor bleeding for about three days. I think it took another month for my period to return.

If you have any doubts, please give yourself more time to think it through. You want to make a confident decision you can live with. Take a day just to yourself and decide what is best for you.

Best wishes!

hello,

I just wanted to let you know that you can pm me whenever you want.

I am also 20 and had an abortion in late March of this year. I am also in college, and felt exactly like you did. My boyfriend and I kept it to ourselves, and it is nice to have people to vent to. I felt just as you did about being too young, wanting to finish college. I'm trying to go to med school! Anyway, I just felt that we were similar enough so that if you ever needed to talk or vent, I am more than willing to be your vent buddy, that's the reason I'm here, is to vent.

I also would not recomment pp. When I went to a PP, I had a bad experience, so I looked for a private clinic, and it was a good experience.

also, if you are afraid of the pain, I would go for IV sedation, I had it, and I felt absolutely no pain afterward... and I didn't bleed very much either. Just for 2 hours, then nothing.

My name is Krystal btw, welcome to the forums.
