Facial Numbness After Fillings Posted: 07-20-07 23:31pm
First I'll say I've been going to this
dentist for over 10 years, have always
liked him and never had any problems
before.
Monday I went for 2 fillings. He gave me
one shot of novocaine on the lower right
side. It's now Friday night, and the left
side of my mouth and face have been numb
ever since after my appointment. Actually
I can't really say numb... there is
feeling, but it's like my mouth, tongue,
cheek and eyelid are partially paralyzed.
If I smile it's crooked, the left side of
my mouth barely moves. (I also can't
whistle or curl my tongue... and I could
do those things before.) Also my left
eyelid doesn't shut all the way. I
probably should have done something
sooner, but it was a very hectic week in
other ways, and I kept thinking it would
get better.
Has anyone ever had this happen, and what
did you or the dentist or a doctor do
about it? I've just really started
worrying about this this evening, of
course too late to call the dentist. Now
I'm not able to sleep because of worrying.
Please if you have any info let me know!

when they gave you the shot of novicane
they may have hit a nerve. how long ago
was this? it may go away in time but do
let your dentist know about it
