Helping You Sleep !
Posted: 07-22-07 08:24am

Hi everyone Im 20 and had sleeping problems since I was about 13 until last year I tried alot of meds including tylanol but I had side effects and on some got hooked plus I'd sometimes find I'd sleep all night but wake up tired like the meds were too strong and i needed more sleep. Ive tried herbs, been to a naturopath, tried sleeping pillows, stopped eating 4 hours before bed, didn't drink anything 2 hours before bed, no caffeine after 2 pm Ive tried it all but one strange thing that did work was changing where I slept so i'd switch between my bed and my spare bed each night and I found it worked for a few months I did this then I attempted my own bed for a month and it was working until the 3rd week so I changed my room around totally changed where my bed was emptied my room out ( was very cluttered) removed photo's & television got a nice doona cover and used lavender oil burning just before I went to bed. And it worked for ages now I just totally change my room around every 6 months or until I cant sleep again, and each time I make sure I like being in my room I bought new curtains last week for my "big change" and next "big change" I'll be painting my room a totally different colour. In winter I drink hot chocolate ( I know it has some caffeine) but its warm. so maybe try some of these small things it was unbelievable how it worked for me after all these years and all I needed was a calm relaxed bedroom. one other thing never go to bed unless you felling tired! Hope this helps you all.

that iis great suggestions, I am glad you found something that has worked for you. I need to go to bed by 9:30 to have enough sleep, but most the time I am not even tired, so I lay there for hours. I will try to wait until I am tired enough to sleep, I am also taking melatonin to help get me to sleep and keep me asleep.

Do you have any experience with Melatonin?
